This is How to Avoid Reaching a Plateau While Dieting

One of the most frustrating part of any weight loss plan is the dreaded plateau. You hit a point where the weight just refuses to come off no matter what you do. This article will show you how to avoid reaching a plateau while dieting so that you get the absolute most out of your efforts.

Regardless of what diet plan you follow, you will end up eating less than you were before. This will cause your metabolism to slow down in order to fend off starvation. Hitting the plateau is caused by your body instinctively trying to save itself by hording the calories it gets.

You need to eat more often. Doesn't that sound great? Five or six small meals every day will do the trick. Think of your metabolism as a fire. If you constantly throw small sticks on it it will keep burning nicely. If you just throw a big log on to it a couple times a day, you will smother it and it will go out. Hitting the diet plateau is just that, putting the fire of your metabolism out.

Taking one day off of your diet every week or so will also tell your body to keep that metabolism up. The jump in caloric intake will let your body know that everything is fine. The other benefit is you get to satisfy your cravings so that you don't go crazy craving certain foods you miss.

Knowing how to avoid reaching a plateau while dieting is key to ensuring you go all the way to reaching your desired weight.
