Cardio surgeon Dr. Mehmet Oz is now a days the go to doctor for lifestyle queen Oprah Winfrey. For weight loss he has suggested her acai berry diet. His take on weight loss is quite different. He says, in a diet we do not need to fight our will power to quit food. We need to program ourselves to control our ghrelin & leptin. Ghrelin is the feeling of being hungry and leptin says that you are full. There is a body tissue known as omentum - it is located right beneath the belly and it controls our ghrelin & leptin.

• When we become over weight, the omentum swells up and makes the belly look fat. It also disturbs the balance of our feeling of hunger and we land up eating too much. The fruit acai berry is rich in fiber content. These make us feel fuller, thereby reducing the extra diet that we take.

• Further, the anti oxidants in acai cleanse the colon and the liver. This way the swelling of the omentum also reduces.

• Next, the high content of vitamin C in the acai berry detoxifies the colon & the bowel area and keeps the digestion system in tact. It even reduces the layer of wastes stuck up in the intestines.
