Yes, healthy skin care is entirely possible at any age. You can have healthy skin even if you neglected your skin and then gave up, using cosmetics to cover up the loose, sagging skin and discolorations. It'll help a lot if you start by taking care of your overall health. If you know your diet is only fair (or worse, which is the honest truth for a lot of us), you can still make a beginning at improving it. Almost all of us can add a couple of green salads a week, and most of us have some fruits that we like. If you like berries, go for it: blueberries, raspberries, blackberries and strawberries are famous for their high nutrition content. So enjoy! Nutritional supplements can be a big help, too. I'm a big believer in them, and I take vitamins and a fish oil supplement every day. Then there's the big question: If I'm not going to just hide my skin blemishes with makeup, what works for healthy skin care? The answer is, really up-to-date ingredients can do it. These skin care ingredients must do much more than cover up. They have to reverse the main causes that caused our aging skin in the first place. The three main causes of aging skin: 1. Loss of collagen and elastin. These are the proteins that give our skin strength and elasticity, and the bad news is, you can't replace them by rubbing them into your skin -- even though manufacturers all over are adding them to creams and lotions. Don't let them fool you; both collagen and elastin have molecules that are just too big to be absorbed into the skin. Those proteins will just stay on top of your skin till they get rubbed off or washed off. Yes, something can be done. You can use a topical skin cream that stimulates the skin to grow more of its own collagen and elastin naturally. An ingredient that has proven its ability to do that in clinical trials is called Cynergy TK. It also stimulated new skin cell growth and protected the skin with antioxidant properties. 2. Loss of hyaluronic acid, which works as a kind of "glue" holding collagen and elastin in the skin matrix. Another clinically-proven ingredient, Phytessence Wakame, blocks the action of a destructive enzyme called hyaluronidase, which breaks down hyaluronic acid in the skin. Stop the enzyme, and hyaluronic acid will build itself back up to levels you had when you were much younger. 3. Oxidative stress to the skin, caused by free radicals. In younger, healthier skin, free radicals are quenched by antioxidants like Vitamin E and the powerful Coenzyme Q10, but antioxidants also tend to be lost as we get older. But a form of Coenzyme Q10 called Nano-Lipobelle H-EQ10, which is CoQ10 in a special "nano-emulsion" has the ability to penetrate the skin deeply, doing a superb job of protecting the skin against antioxidants. It works in synergy with natural Vitamin E. Those ingredients are a great beginning toward healthy skin. For more details, you can check my website recommendations on healthy skin care
