So you're ready to start a new diet are you? Well just make sure you have the right goals in mind before you start it off. You see many people jump onto a new diet without thinking about the long term of what happens after they finish a diet. Most importantly people jump on a diet thinking it will solve all their weight loss problems, only to find that they diet itself becomes an even bigger problem. In this article I'll discuss the 3 common mistakes made when picking a new diet and what you can do to avoid them.

3 Common Mistakes when picking a Diet

#1 - Picking a diet that promises large amounts of rapid weight loss:Generally diets that promise huge amounts of weight loss in a short amount of time have some issues. Mainly related to the fact that they will typically rely a great deal on either water weight loss which comes back immediately after the diet is finished or starving yourself the extremes which creates dramatic rebound effects with weight gained back.

#2 - Picking the newest fad diet: Whether its eating bananas to burn more fat or drinking a superfood drink, these diets are known as fads for a reason. In the case you actually do see some results, eventually when you stop these diets the weight generally will come back on.

#3 - Going for the low calorie diets: The big problem with low calorie diets is that they in fact train your metabolism to slow down in relation to the calories you consume. When you begin to increase your calorie consumption again you will find that the weight returns very rapidly as your metabolism is slower than ever.

There is one diet known as calorie shifting which avoids these pit falls by allowing you to eat complete meals every day and instead of avoiding calories it uses them to boost your metabolism. As a result you do not experience the rebound effect at the end of the diet either like most other diets.
