Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) has the wonderful benefit of improving your outlook once you have made the decision to reduce or eliminate Western type refined foods In treating Western diseases you either need to take some medication or perhaps, go under the knife. But in hypoglycemia it is what you start avoiding that puts you back on the road to health. The daily intake of modern western foods gradually upsets the fine balance of blood sugar levels. Such foods lead to continuous sugar rushes, too much insulin and a loss of energy levels. This leads to the familiar hypoglycemic symptoms of mood swings, loss of memory, lack of concentration and amongst others, a gradual inability to handle relationships because of irritability. The idea behind eliminating foods, if you are hypoglycemic, is to cut them fast and furiously. No exceptions. Then when your body has recovered after two or three months, you can allow yourself a treat. The danger of not being very strict is that you will not get into the habit of eliminating refined foods that have a very addictive attraction. It does not take much for the old hypoglycemic symptoms to re-appear. Here are some foods that you should ban from your life: 1. Sugar - remember brown sugar is also refined. 2. Refined flour and all 'enriched' flours. Look for whole wheat. 3. White, polished or instant rice. 4. All processed lunchmeats, bacon and sausages. All contain additives. 5. All products containing caffeine such as chocolate, coffee, tea and colas. 6. Carbonated drinks and alcohol. Another important area that must be avoided is Chinese foods. These contain masses of monosodium glutamate (MSG) often under the names of soy extract, yeast extract, hydrolyzed protein or meat tenderizer. Face up to it, you are metabolically challenged and people with hypoglycemia cannot tolerate MSG. In general your body is working overtime to correct the imbalances caused by modern refined foods and additives. Hypoglycemia symptoms must be stopped in their tracks with a change in attitude and diet plan before further more serious illnesses develop. These illnesses include diabetes, heart disease and kidney and nerve damage. The correct way to gain the upper hand over hypoglycemia is through a far wider understanding of diet and refined foods than the average person possesses. Look into recent studies to help gain further knowledge. With understanding and a new zest for life you will automatically want to stick to your dieting program.
