Home Remedies For Piles

There are very good reasons why home remedies for piles can be far more effective than expensive over the counter medication. I say "can be" as it is vital to understand that you will get nowhere with a haphazard collection of home remedies gleaned from various corners of the internet.

To eradicate piles completely-not just alleviate the symptoms, it is important to have a proper, systematic approach which is tried and tested. If you are not treating the causes of piles along with the actual physical symptoms at the same time, you will never have a chance of getting rid of them altogether.

Many over the counter treatments and home remedies for piles concentrate only on relieving the symptoms of piles. Now if you are one of those people who repeatedly buy creams, lotions and similar, you will already know exactly what I am talking about here-you use the creams, get some relief, feel ok for a few days, the symptoms begin again, you use the creams......you get the picture! The same can be said for some home remedies. they can work well to give some symptomatic relief, but if they are not treating the causes, the piles will still be there. Even if you are lucky enough for them to shrink, they will grow back.

Piles are caused largely by the lifestyle of the sufferer. They are not caused by a germ, virus or disease and this is why they cannot be treated successfully by conventional medication. Even surgery to cut out or repair the tissue will not prevent them regrowing. The good thing is that piles are not medically dangerous. However, this is not to say that they are not painful, inconvenient and embarrassing and you should most certainly take steps to eradicate them to regain a normal quality of life.

If you are serious about dealing with this condition once and for all, you can be completely free of piles within days. However, if you are not someone who is prepared to invest a little time and effort in your own treatment, this will not happen. To successfully use home remedies for piles, you need to appreciate that you may need to use a multi-faceted approach to attack the causes from various angles to guarantee a complete cure. If you've had piles for any length of time, I'm quite sure that you already know that the solution is not as simple as rubbing on a cream!

Having said, this, there are a couple of basic, simple home remedies for piles which you can try right now. These will not get rid of them altogether, but should give a little relief. One of the easiest things you can do for immediate relief is to sit in a lukewarm bath. If your piles are really bad you could try this for up to 4 times a day for around 10-15 minutes a time. Witch hazel is very soothing for piles-simply soak a cotton wool pad in diluted witch hazel and leave on the piles for a few minutes. Rather than using over the counter creams and lotions, petroleum jelly and zinc cream are both very soothing. You can also wrap an ice-pack in a clean flannel and place directly on the piles.
