- Start out lying flat on your back, placing a small ball or other object under the back of your knees to have your legs slightly off the ground
- Using your tummy muscles, and not your back muscles, slowly raise your legs off of the object and into the air to achieve a 45 degree angle. Hold this position for 10 seconds
- To really get the benefit of this flatten tummy exercise, continue to contract your abdominal muscles while you slowly lower your legs back to the object on the ground
- Take a 5 second breather, and repeat steps 1-3. A good idea is to do 3 sets of 10 repetitions each, breaking for 2 or 3 minutes between sets
