The title might sound weird since, aren't the ab exercises supposed to exercise your stomach? This is true, but then why it doesn't make your stomach flat. There are a lots of people in the misconception that just doing ab exercises will get you that desired flat stomach of even six pack abs. This just isn't true completely. Ab exercises have their place in your daily life if you really want to have flatter stomach, but it isn't all you need to do. The most important aspect of having flatter stomach is getting rid of the excess layer of fat around your belly. It really doesn't matter in how good shape your ab muscles are under that fat, since they don't show under there. Good abs do have a flattening capability if you have only slight amount of fat around your waist, but if you are in really bad shape and obese then it doesn't do much to your figure. So eating right and getting correct amount of daily calories is the most important thing. Then there is the exercising. Cardio and ab exercises have both their place. Cardio exercising you should do to get rid of the excess fat and to burn calories. Cardio and fat burning exercises will get you overall better toned body. These will flatten your stomach will make that finalizing to your new slim figure. You need to do ab exercises and exercising often enough to have the desired impact on your body. You should exercise 3 - 4 times a week. So get your diet in condition, start cardio exercising and then do shaping ab exercises. So ab exercises are not the answer to flat stomach, just part of it.
