Remove Wrinkles - But Not the Cute Ones

Wrinkles in general are associated with clothes and skin.  And in either case most of the time you do not want to have to deal with them.  In recent years there have been many advancements to eliminate both wrinkles in clothes as well as the wrinkles in your skin.  But are there  cases in which wrinkles are welcomed or even considered cute?

At first it is difficult to imagine that some wrinkles are cute, in fact, they are usually an annoyance that we focus on eliminating.  But there are certain instances in which people find wrinkles cute or at the very least better looking than non wrinkled.  This may seem like a stretch for some of us, but follow along and see if you agree or not.

Let's start with some of the more obvious examples first.  Puppies.  We have all seen that rolly polly puppy that has skin far too large for its body and found it absolutely adorable.  Seemingly tripping over its own skin these creatures bound around in what seems to be a joyous exploration of this world.  Whether you like dogs or not, these wrinkly creatures tug at your heart strings.  Many of the websites that sell these animals will even caution visitors before entering the site that if you are not ready to own a dog, do not proceed.  Reason being that far too many people fall in love with these wrinkled puppies without ever considering the work or effort it takes to actually raise and animal.  They make their purchases because they found all the wrinkles too cute.

Another example of when wrinkles are welcomed comes from fine clothes.  Linen has long been considered to look its best when it is more wrinkled then when it is pressed.  The unique makeup of this fabric seems to look better the longer is goes without pressing.  In fact, when the fabric is pressed it appears to look stiff and rigid which does not look right at all.  These types of clothes are often worn in tropics or warmer weather climates and are considered a luxury due to their softer, more casual appearance.  Many men and women look forward to the summer months when it is acceptable for them to wear their linen shirts or shorts.

We have taken a short look at two examples of when wrinkles are cute, but we are sure that you were thinking along the lines of human wrinkles not that of puppies.  So the question still remains are wrinkles cute of humans?  Before we get to that, lets discuss how bizarre it is that both clothes and animals can be considered cute, yet humans not so cute as they wrinkle up.  This may be true, but most of us separate the definitions of cute and attractive in our minds when it comes to this topic.

For example we don't necessarily want to look all wrinkled up as we do not feel it is attractive.  But at the same time very few of us can look at an elderly couple walking hand in hand through the park, wrinkles abundant, without finding it adorable.  It is as if wrinkles are not cute when thought of in regards to our own appearance, yet when it is the appearance of a stranger they are often endearing.  What would cause this interesting twist in our psyches when it comes to the topic of wrinkles.

Try the following experiment with yourself or with others that you know.  Associate the thoughts that come with wrinkles.  Focusing on the positive or negative connotations of the responses.  Alarmingly, you may find that you associate only negative terms with wrinkles.  In fact, many people you know are waging "war" against wrinkles.  Yet when the context of wrinkles is changes to high quality fabric or puppies, people associate positive thoughts with wrinkles.  Next examine the same process when if comes to your wrinkles or those wrinkles of some elderly couple in the park, again you may find that your wrinkles are thought of negatively, yet the wrinkles of others often contribute to their cuteness.

So whether or not human wrinkles can be considered cute or not lies completely with each person's own opinion, yet all of us do find some attractive.  By no means does this author claim that people should not try to keep their skin looking young for as long as possible, in fact the opposite is quite true.  But due to the fact that many people consider themselves at "war" or in a "battle" against aging, it brought this topic to mind.  In this author's opinion, yes many wrinkles can be considered cute.
